Summer Student Jobs at Downtown Whitby BIA

Gain valuable experience, build your portfolio, and help make Downtown Whitby shine this summer! We’re hiring summer students in the areas of marketing, website, events, and social media.

To be eligible, youth must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
    **International students are not eligible participants, as per job grant guidelines.

💻 Website Developer & SEO Strategist

  • Revamp and modernize the BIA website
  • Improve mobile responsiveness and page speed
  • Update business listings, event pages, and community resources
  • Optimize SEO and implement improvements
  • Add interactive features like a business directory and newsletter signup

Qualifications: WordPress experience, basic HTML/CSS/JS, UX/UI skills, HRDC Job Grant eligible

🎉 Events Assistant / Special Events Coordinator

  • Help plan and execute food tours, festivals, and community events
  • Assist with setup, tear-down, and event logistics
  • Coordinate with vendors and local businesses
  • Promote events through print and digital channels
  • Provide on-site support and public engagement

Qualifications: Organized, people-oriented, fast-paced environments, HRDC Job Grant eligible

📱 Social Media Content Creator

  • Create and schedule engaging content for Instagram & Facebook
